宋朝的时候，有个女孩叫做月英。她约了一个心仪的男子，晚上在花园里见面；那男子早到了，就喝起了酒，最后喝醉了，等月英到了的时候，男子已滥醉，叫也叫不醒，于是月英为了表示自己有来过，就留下一双绣花鞋子、一条手绢儿在男子身边而后走了。等男子酒醒，看到月英已经来过了，懊悔自己贪杯误佳期，就很豪气的，把月英的手绢儿往嘴巴里塞，想噎死自己，以示负责。接着有人在花园里发现脸呈坏死猪肝色的男子，又看见旁边一双月英的绣花鞋，案情顺理成章的推理出来：月英是杀人犯！还好负责审理此案的，是那鼎鼎有名的包青天，包公命人将手绢儿从男子口中取出，男子当场咳咳咳一阵子，透了气，活了过来！就这样，包公当庭做主，让月英跟这男子，结为夫妻。
