吴汉偶然救了王莽，王莽就将妹妹王英许配给他，但是自此吴母终日郁郁寡欢，一日吴汉立下擒拿刘秀的功劳，向母亲禀报，希望能够讨母亲欢心，没想到母亲大怒，一问之下，才知道原来吴汉父亲被王莽害死，母亲带的他逃走他乡，非但没有位父亲到仇，还与仇人结为亲家为他做事。吴汉悲愤之下，拿剑杀了妻子，就在此时吴汉母亲也上吊自杀了。
