签诗故事

刘秀兴汉

刘秀是汉高祖九世孙，西汉景帝子长沙王刘发之子春陵节侯刘买的后裔。

在新莽天凤五年(17年)，当时天下大乱，赤眉军与绿林军各自起兵反王莽。刘秀此时亦与其兄刘縯在春陵(今湖北枣阳县)起兵，与绿林兵共同拥护更始帝刘玄。23年，刘秀率绿林军3万以少胜多于昆阳灭王莽军42万，杀其主帅王寻，取得昆阳大捷。

此后刘縯、刘秀兄弟威望大盛，遭到刘玄的猜忌。刘秀有所察觉，但刘縯不以为意，终被刘玄借故杀死，同被杀死的还有同宗刘稷。此时刘秀也处于危险之中，只得向刘玄谢罪，并不敢为哥哥服丧，饮食言笑如常。刘玄心有所惭，故而拜刘秀为破虏大将军。后刘玄佔据洛阳，派刘秀巡视黄河以北，刘秀始得脱离险境。刘秀遂在河北积蓄力量，日益壮大，被刘玄封为萧王。刘秀率吴汉、邓禹等手下大将，继续在北方大破铜马等割据势力，被关西人号为铜马帝。由于刘秀与刘玄心生二意，自此刘秀手下便不断劝进。

25年，赤眉军立刘盆子为傀儡皇帝，击败刘玄，刘玄投降后被杀。建武元年六月二十二己未日(25年8月5日)，刘秀于鄗城即皇帝位，改元建武，国号仍为汉，史称东汉。次年迁都洛阳，改洛阳为「雒阳」。刘秀先后荡平赤眉、张步、愧嚣、公孙述等割据势力，于建武十二年十一月十九己卯日(36年12月25日)吴汉攻克成都，东汉统一中国。
